The 2014 Meyre has an open-knit, black cherry and cassis-scented bouquet, very floral with wilted violets, almost Burgundian in style. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, well judged acidity, quite oaky at the moment but with just about enough fruit to fully absorb the wood. It just misses a little sophistication on the finish, but otherwise this is a commendable if not exactly riveting Cru Bourgeois. Tasted September 2016.
