Deep garnet-red, purple-blue highlights. Nose of ripe dark fruits, spicy notes, toasted oak. Supple, tense, fresh palate revealing more of the same aromas. Fairly firm finish. A lovely wine that just needs a few more years' patience.

Segonzac’s wines are consistently good, and Heritage, the top label, performed well in 2003. The wine has some of the overt richness of the year, with its chocolate and very ripe fruits. But there is good, tough tannin and just the right amount of balancing finishing acidity.——R.V.(11/1/2007)—— 89
