Aged for 16 months in French oak, 25% new, the 2018 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard opens with cedar and buttered toast scents giving way to a core of ripe apricots, pear tart and guava plus wafts of nutmeg and crème caramel. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has lashings of oak lacing the generous tropical fruit flavors and a racy line, finishing long and toasty. 397 cases were made.

The 2017 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard is a little closed to start, the nose slowly unfurling to reveal notes of waxed lemons, white peaches and Golden Delicious apples with hints of baking bread, toasted almonds and allspice. Medium-bodied, the palate has a lot of grace and expression with gentle acidity and a savory finish. 448 cases were made.

The 2016 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard reveals beautiful citrus notions of lemon curd, lime cordial and pomelo with wafts of baking bread, shaved almonds and coriander seed. The palate is medium-bodied, lively and delicately played in the mouth with a quiet intensity of citrus layers and a mineral-laced finish. 276 cases produced.

An outstanding wine is the 2015 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard. This wine, which gets the full monty of malolactic fermentation, offers up notes of tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango, has the telltale honeysuckle, crushed rock minerality and a fresh, medium to full-bodied style. It’s a beauty and fairly priced. Drink it over the next 2-4 years.

The 2014 Chardonnay Belle Terre Vineyard is front-end loaded and broad, with notes of white peach and citrus oil followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with terrific acidity, little evidence of oak, and a long finish.
