Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Tour Maillet is a little oaky to begin, giving way to a core of kirsch, black raspberries and mulberries, plus touches of underbrush, Sichuan pepper and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is also wearing its oak a little heavy, revealing a core of crunchy black and red berries with plenty of spicy sparks and a very firm, sturdy frame, finishing woody.

Deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Tour Maillet leaps from the glass with bold notions of black cherry compote, wild blueberries, boysenberries and spice cake plus nuances of licorice, chocolate box, tar and woodsmoke. The full-bodied palate carries a fair bit of classy oak at the moment, yet potentially has the fruit to wear it well, with dense layers of black and blue berry preserves and a firm frame of grainy tannins, finishing long.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Tour Maillet has a nose vaguely scented of stewed plums, dried mulberries and sautéed herbs with a waft of charcoal. The medium-bodied palate has a good amount of herb-laced black fruit with plenty of freshness and a chewy finish.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Tour Maillet rolls out of the glass with uncomplicated plum preserves, spice cake and pencil shavings scents plus a waft of garrigue. The medium-bodied palate offers a good amount of straight-up black fruit with a light chewiness to the texture and an herbal lift to the finish.

The 2016 Tour Maillet is deep garnet-purple colored with blackberries, blackcurrants and kirsch with touches of cedar chest, tobacco and tilled soil plus pepper wafts. The palate is medium-bodied, structured, firm and lively, finishing long and chewy.
