Domaine de la Charbonniere's 1995s have a more saturated color than the 1996s, cut a deeper, fuller impression on the palate, and possess more character and aromatics. The 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Classique offers a medium ruby color, a soft, berry/cherry-scented nose, round, ripe flavors, nice sweetness from the glycerin, and light tannin in the medium-bodied finish. It is a wine to drink over the next 5-6 years. Proprietor Michel Maret has been turning out textbook Chateauneuf du Pape for some time, and he seems to go from strength to strength.
