Claude and Stephane Riffault make text book examples of white Sancerre: Les Chasseignes expresses all the mineral ele-gance ofthe clay and limestone soils ("cail-lotes") in the upper part of the slope. Les Boucauds is a powerful, splendidly min?eral wine from southeast-facing Kimmer?idgian marls ("terres blanches") farther down the slope, while the cuvee Les Pier?rotes is sharper and comes from flinty soils. The unflned and unflltered Antique boasts a deliciously rich constitution and originates from a limestone terroir very like the terres blanches. The red wines are also beautiful examples of Sancerre.
