The 2010 Jaspi Maragda is a blend of 55% Garnacha, 25% Carinena and 20% Syrah, and even though part of the wine has aged in terracotta amphorae, it comes through as quite oaky, with aromas of vanilla, nutmeg, clove and toasted bread over a core of balsamic notes intermixed with ripe black fruit. The medium-bodied palate reveals abundant dusty, grainy tannins, correct acidity and pungent flavors with a slightly drying finish. 18,000 bottles were produced. Drink 2015-2018.
This is the project of brothers Toni and Miquel Coca i Fito from a winegrowing family from Penedes. Toni Coca is a known oenologist who advises some 25 different wineries in the region. The wines come through as a little overworked and with a strong influence from the elevage.
