The 2007 Montecucco Sangiovese Riserva Lombrone emerges from the glass with layers of plush, radiant fruit. This is a soft, enveloping style of Sangiovese best enjoyed for its textural depth and richness. The fruit blossoms quite nicely on the round, expressive finish. The 2007 is quite accessible today, but readers who enjoy tertiary complexity will want to give the wine at least another year in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017.
