The 2004 B. Core, a blend of 57% Marsanne and 43% Roussanne, exhibits plenty of buttery, toasty, smoky new oak. It reminded me of an old style, aggressively oaky Meursault from the likes Michelot-Buisson. The oak dominates at present, but the wine possesses enough richness and concentration to absorb it over time. But, will that happen? This is a distinctive, artisinal wine and I hesitate to dismiss it just because it is currently revealing a lot of oak, but readers beware.Tel. (805) 714-5057
