There is a microscopic quantity of the 1992 Pinot Noir Reserve Canary Hill produced, so this wine is unlikely to be found except by consumers who purchase their wine directly from the winery. It offers a terrific Domaine de la Romanee-Conti-like nose of smoked meats, jammy red and black fruits, and Asian spices. Although the color is only medium ruby, the wine is lusciously ripe, generous, and seductive. It is not going to be an ager, so drink it over the next 3-4 years.A new player on the Oregon wine scene, with its vineyards just beginning to come into production, Christom is the property of transplanted Easterner Paul Gerrie, who had the foresight to hire Steve Doerner, formerly Calera's talented winemaker. Christom should be a major player, especially once their own vineyards come into production. Currently the wines are made from purchased fruit.Tel. (503) 375-3068.
