Made with partially oak-aged Nero d'Avola and Syrah, the 2021 Sicilia Benuara is a fresh and simple red with fruit from the Presti e Pegni Vineyard. The wine shows a lot of primary ripeness with blackberry preserves and black plum, and there is some sweetness to follow. With time, those sun-drenched aromas turn to raisin and prune. The wine is rich and soft to the palate. This is a generous release of 300,000 bottles.

With fruit from the Tenuta Presti and Pegni, the Cusumano 2018 Sicilia Benuara is a blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Syrah aged in both steel and botte grande. This ambitious production of 100,000 bottles is soft and rich with blackberry, baked cherry, dusty terracotta and grilled fennel seed. The wine shows much of that earthy character that is associated with the two complementary grapes used in this blend. Benuara offers great value.

A blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Syrah, the 2017 Sicilia Benuara (with fruit from the Tenuta Presti e Pegni estate) is a beautifully rich, memorable and concentrated Sicilian red blend. The bouquet unravels to black fruit intensity with barbecue spice, savory leather and crushed peppercorn. This robust red wine offers ample body and intensity and would pair next to roasted suckling pig on the spit. This is always a great value choice, and an ample 200,000 bottles were made.

The 2016 Benuara (closed with a glass cork) is made with fruit sourced from the estate's Presti and Pegni vineyards in Monreale, and these sites are identified on the front label. This is a mid-weight blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Syrah that offers an accessible and forthcoming drinking style. There is a subtle note of sunny ripeness on the bouquet, with a point of cherry marmalade, but the wine ultimately delivers a tight and focused mouthfeel. Most of the wine (80%) is aged in steel, and the remaining percentage goes into large oak casks. Some 300,000 bottles were made.
