Deep purple-black in color, the 2011 Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz has a slightly reduced nose to begin with before the rubbery notes give way (with aeration) to aromas of black plums and freshly crushed black currants over pepper, charcoal, tar and fertile earth. Medium to full-bodied, it shows off plenty of expressive berry and earth flavors, a medium level of grainy tannins, and a refreshing lift in the long finish. Drink it now to 2017+.
