As disappointed as I was with De Forville's 1990 Dolcetto, which reeked of stinky lees, their Barbaresco from the highly renowned Rabaja vineyard is an excellent wine that has been made in a classic, old style. The rustic nose of dried cherries, herbs, leather, and cedar is a real turn on. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated, full-bodied and rich, with spicy, earthy, tannic flavors. Forward enough to be drinkable now, this wine has the potential to evolve for 7-10 years. Importer: Neal Rosenthal, Select Vineyards, New York, NY.
