The 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Campedel shows oak-related tones of spice and cured meat as well as fruit-driven tones of prune and blackcurrant. Amarone Campedel offers good complexity thanks to the air-drying process in which the fruit loses much of its water weight before being crushed into wine. This results in extra power, alcohol and concentration of flavors.

The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Campedel is a top expression from the estate’s best single vineyard. The wine moves with determined grace, strength and momentum. Dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses and exotic spice all compete for your attention. It imparts a thick, almost gritty feel on the close that will soften with a few more years in the bottle. Drink 2015-2022. Run by the three Aldrighetti brothers, Giovanni, Giuseppe and Martino, Gamba is an under-the-radar winery that has steadily been producing very nice wines under two distinct lines: Campedel and Le Quare. A new nine-hectare plot (with five already planted to Valpolicella Classico DOC vines) was recently purchased. The property is located 600 meters above sea level on Monte Solane in Fumane.
