The 2009 Sao Expressiu is a blend of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo aged in oak barrels for 14 months with notes of smoked bacon, tree bark, black cherries and licorice, and a full-bodied palate with some dusty tannins that call for food and/or a little more time in bottle. Drink 2014-2018.
The thing that struck me the most about Blanch i Jove is the fact that they have giant sculptures in the middle of a vineyard they call the Artist’s Vineyard. I haven’t seen the vineyards, only photos of them, but I’ll try to take a peek next time.
