The 2009 Crianza is a blend of the indigenous Manto Negro grape (53%) with Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and a little Syrah and Callet and sees 60% of the crop aged in American oak for 12 months and 40% in French oak. It offers a decent, fruit-driven nose with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, cloves and a touch of Chinese five-spice. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, but decent rustic dark berry and mocha underneath. My only complaint it that the finish is a little dry and short, but apart from that, this is perfectly respectable. Drink now-2014.
