The 2006 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Poldo is another big, dark wine, but it has the richness and depth of fruit to stand up to the considerable oak. Worn in leather, tar, smoke incense and plums are some of the many notes that flesh out in the generous yet powerful finish. The Poldo is decidedly virile and masculine in style. In 2006 the blend is 80% Prugnolo Gentile (Sangiovese) plus 20% assorted red grapes. The Poldo spent two years in French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.
