The 2013 Josep Foraster Collita is a fruit-driven, unoaked Tempranillo with a purple color and a young, fruity nose of red berries with notes of licorice and a lactic touch, and a fresh, straightforward palate with a slightly herbaceous flavor that lifts the wine up and gives it freshness. A pleasant, young red. Drink now-2015. is a family winery, created in 1998, where they work exclusively with the fruit of their own vineyards, which are organically farmed. The 2011 Josep Foraster Collita is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from 19-year-old vines at 370 metres altitude. It undergoes a five-day skin maceration and sees no oak during aging. It offers crunchy cranberry and red cherry fruit on the nose that is simple, but crisp and lively. The palate is medium-bodied with pomegranate and strawberry fruit, underpinned by a vibrant, citric thread of acidity that lends tautness and focus. It represents fine value for the price. Drink now-2015. I visited Mas Foraster on a lucid sunny morning in Conca de Barbera. They farm 34 hectares at around 370 metres altitude.
