The Chateau Val de Roc 2014, made by Séverine Grimal and Laurent Vallet (of Chateau Ausone), is a blend of 70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a concentrated blueberry and blackberry bouquet with a touch of vanilla coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite linear in the mouth and not as extravagant as the aromatics, although there is fine precision on the rather conservative finish. I think there will be better to come from this address.
