The 2009 Ponte da Boga Alais comes from the Costa de Alais parcel opposite the winery and aged in French and European oak for 12 months, with around one-third new. It has a very rich, almost overwhelming bouquet with raspberry, kirsch, blueberry jam and glycerin. The palate maintains good balance, the oak neatly folded into the black cherry and blueberry fruit, the finish rounded and supple with less pepperiness than its peers. Fine. Drink now-2015.
Adega Ponte da Boga is situated in Terra de Caldelas along the River Sil and the focus here is mainly upon red Mencia grapes. This appears to be a strong, reliable portfolio of wines.
