The 2020 Flor de Vetus was produced with grapes from the main property and five other plots that contribute a little Garnacha to the blend. 2020 was cooler than 2019, but they had spring frost that reduced yields by 45% and they harvested earlier. It fermented in stainless steel with yeasts selected from the property. It has 14.25% alcohol with good freshness and acidity, black rather than red fruit and a heady and smoky twist from the 12 months in barrel. 70,000 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2022.

A straightforward red firmed by dusty tannins, with modest notes of wild cherry, loamy earth and mocha. Chewy finish. Tempranillo. Drink now. 11,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.??–AN??Region: Spain / Toro Select to Add

The 2019 Flor de Vetus was a tad riper and the tannins grainier than those of the 2020 that I tasted next to it. It's a warmer year (warmer than both 2018 and 2020) with structure and generous tannin, a little more alcohol and a touch of earthy rusticity. Powerful and better with food. 114,123 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2021.

Cherry and plum flavors mingle with herbal, licorice and loamy earth notes in this straightforward red. It has firm tannins and fresh acidity. Drink now through 2026. 10,600 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.??–TM??Region: Spain / Toro Select to Add

The organic entry-level 2018 Flor de Vetus is Tinta de Toro from vines around the winery next to VIllabuena del Puente planted in 1999 and certified organic in 2018. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in oak barrels for 11 months. It has contained ripeness and moderate alcohol and acidity, reflecting a cooler year with a long and slow ripening of the grapes. It's sleek, polished and very balanced, with unusual elegance for the region. 124,027 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2020.
