The 2006 Metier Blanc is 90% Viognier and 10% Roussanne, also raised in stainless steel. The aromas deliver notes of peach and apricot and the flavors are pleasant but, overall, the wine is slightly lean and lacking concentration. Viognier is a challenging grape and it is just as difficult to find top examples in Washington as it is any place outside of Condrieu. The 2005 Metier Blanc is 70% Viognier from the Ciel du Cheval Vineyard and 30% Chardonnay from the Cold Creek Vineyard. Medium straw-colored, it offers a lovely bouquet of melon, pear, lemon-lime, and pit fruits. This leads to a dry, ripe wine with crisp acidity. With excellent balance and length, it should pair well with Pacific Northwest seafood. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. www.delillecellars.com
