The 2016 Chambolle Musigny Village, which contains some whole bunch fruit, has a delightful brisk blackberry and raspberry-scented bouquet. The palate is a little blocky at the moment, not a Chambolle of finesse, and I felt a touch of greenness toward the finish. I thought that the barrel that had been destemmed showed much better—fresher and without that nagging green note. Let's see how this turns out.

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village is lighter and more carefree, more charming on the nose than the Morey-Saint-Denis Village at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, white pepper and a touch of graphite on the back palate. I appreciate the structure and focus here. It becomes more "serious" towards the assertive finish, though the tannins feel finer than the Morey-Saint-Denis.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny has a pleasant, easy-going bouquet with redcurrant and crushed strawberry scents, a little pinched at the moment but fresh. The palate is quite firm on the entry. This is a Morey-like Chambolle-Musigny with good backbone, though I feel it just misses some substance towards the foursquare finish. Tasted September 2016.

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Village, which is sourced from small parcels in Les Bas-Doix Les Danguerrins, Les Argillières, Les Drazeys, Aux Croix, les Clos, Les Bussières and Les Cras, has a slightly bashful nose from barrel: dark berries, hints of tea leaf, all nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry and bilberry fruit, a pleasant, grainy texture and a nicely focused, fresh finish that does not outstay its welcome. Perfectly fine - enjoy this over several years.
