Bursting with aromas of red berries, petals and orange rind, the 2019 Bourgogne Rouge is medium-bodied, lively and perfumed, with melting tannins and a saline finish. As usual, it's a blend of fruit from Puligny-Montrachet, Maranges and the Hautes-C?tes.

The Bachelet brothers' 2017 Bourgogne Rouge exhibits a generous bouquet of red and black fruits, subtly framed by a judicious touch of recently used wood. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a succulent core of fruit and melting tannins. It's a blend of fruit from the communes of Puligny-Montrachet and Maranges along with grapes from the Hautes C?tes.

The 2016 Bourgogne Rouge, a three-way blend of vines located in Puligny, Haut C?te de Beaune and Maranges villages (just behind the family home), has such a pretty cranberry and raspberry preserve-scented bouquet that demonstrates the warmth of the latter part of the summer. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crunchy red fruit, quite brisk but certainly well defined with a poised, slightly tart finish. Very fine for a generic red Burgundy.

The 2015 Bourgogne Rouge is a tripartite blend for vines in Puligny-Montrachet, Maranges Village and Hautes-C?tes de Beaune. It has an attractive bouquet: raspberry preserve mixed with crushed strawberry that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is ripe on the entry, soft in texture, quite caressing with a smooth raspberry and cranberry finish with a welcome touch of white pepper for good measure.

The 2014 Bourgogne Rouge had been racked two weeks prior to my visit. Matured in 20% new oak, it has a fine bouquet with plenty of raspberry preserve and cranberry aromas. The palate feels soft and rounded in the mouth with fine volume, good acidity and quite a plush finish in the making. This could be just a lovely red Burgundy once in bottle.
