Brunely's top cuvee, the 2007 Vacqueyras Cuvee La Tour aux Cailles, is a combination of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. While slightly more expensive than its siblings, all three of these wines sell for a song at the domaine (around 8-10 euros per bottle). Sweet blueberry and blackberry fruit characteristics are accompanied by hints of licorice, lavender, and earth. Dense, full-bodied, and juicy, with more structure and tannin than its more fruit-driven siblings, it should last for a decade. All three of these offerings are sensational bargains. There are three superb 2007s from Domaine de la Brunely (a large estate of 124 acres with 53 in the heart of Vacqueyras). The Cuvee Tradition and Cuvee Carte d-Or are aged 12 months in cement tanks, and the Cuvee La Tour aux Cailles spends 18 months in concrete. No known American importer.
