Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Domaine de Courcel's 2014 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens has a harmonious and quite lifted bouquet with notes of blackberry, cranberry leaf, sorrel and a hint of sage. The palate is medium-bodied with dusky dark black fruit, broody and grippy and perhaps dominated by the tannins rather than the scant amount of fruit toward the finish. I am concerned how this will age. Tasted September 2017.
