One of the star estates of Vacqueyras that still seems to be under the radar for many consumers is this 22.5 acre estate called Domaine des Amouriers. They make two vin de pays, the inexpensive VdP Vaucluse which is a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The 2005 is soft, superficial, but pleasant and easygoing. The 1995 VDP, a blend of Grenache, 50-year old Carignan, and Cinsault, with a tiny amount of young vine Merlot and Syrah, is a fruity, tart, cherry, raspberry-scented and flavored wine with adequate fruit, and good crisp freshness.
