Lafon has finally produced some fruit from his vineyard in Monthelie and the 1993 barely merits a recommendation. The wine's hard, tannic finish is cause for concern. Nevertheless, the quality of the fruit is ripe, pure, and the wine exhibits attractive medium-bodied, spicy, cherry fruit in a user-friendly format.
