Similarly styled to the Suis l'étoile bottling, yet a completely different blend, the 2011 La larme de l'ame is 70% Syrah, 20% Carignan and 10% Grenache that saw 24 months in older demi-muid. It's a massive wine that has huge cassis, toasted spice, roasted meats and melted liquorice characteristics to go with a full-bodied, layered feel on the palate. I like the purity and freshness here slightly more than the Suis l'étoile, yet both are brilliant wines. Drink this beauty over the coming 5-7 years as well, although, it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see it evolve for longer.
