The Feraud father and daughter are proteges of the great Henri Bonneau. Their wines are closest in style to Bonneau's Cuvee des Celestins. While none of the offerings reviewed in this section will be as extraordinary as the wine produced in 1990, 1989, 1985, and 1981, their 1992 and 1993 are among the top wines of the vintage. The 1991 Chateauneuf du Pape is a competent, correct wine in what was a dreadful vintage. It is spicy and weedy, with peppery, black-cherry fruit, medium body, and a compact, narrowly constructed finish.
