This year, Mikulski elected not to blend into his generic cuvee this crop of 2007 Meursault Le Limozin, with results that are refreshingly and succulently vintage-typical. Rich melon, pear, and quince are joined by bright citrus and chalk in a vivacious and dynamic exchange. The combination of smooth texture and ripe fruit with subtle pungency and invigoration is impressively persistent. This should be well worth attending to over the next 4-5 years.
Francois Mikulski began picking his 2007s the August 31 and harvest lasted a full two weeks. He performed “a bit more severe settling than normal” of solid matter to insure healthy musts, and while the vinous results are sometimes a bit texturally spare, as a group these wines boast consistently impressive distinctiveness of personality, energy, refreshment, and grip.
