The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs was showing a slight reduction on the nose that imparted an unwanted metallic tincture. The palate is better with sappy red berry fruit, red plum and truffle notes, the tannins quite firm in the mouth with a pleasurable, black pepper finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. If the aromatics can improve, this will be a fine En Champs to drink over the next 6-8 years.
