Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Pommard 1er Cru Les Poutures from Domaine Lejeune has a strong fish oil scents on the nose that punctures the dense black, rather rustic fruit. Volatile? The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannin, sweet black cherry fruit at its core but there is an offending bitterness towards the finish that discourages another sip. It turns quite balsamic in the glass, which does not bode well for long-term ageing.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The nose is a little jammy and volatile on Lejeune’s Pommard 1er Cru Les Poutures, which is a shame as there is some decent red fruit here. The palate is ripe and fleshy on the entry, again touched by some volatility that discombobulates the finish.
