With its healthy dose of Viognier (45%), the 2017 Cotes du Rhone Clementia Blanc comes across as quite floral and aromatic. Hints of gingery spice are balanced out by Roussanne (45%) and Clairette (10%) in this medium-bodied, silky-textured white. Apricot, pear and melon fruit round out the mid-palate, refocusing as citrus on the long finish. A fine value.

A blend of 45% Viognier, 45% Roussanne and 10% Clairette, Daniel Boulle’s 2014 C?tes du Rh?ne Clementia Blanc offers straightforward notes of orchard fruits and candied lemon to go with a medium-bodied, juicy, easy drinking feel on the palate. It’s well made, but a touch simple. Drink it over the coming year or so.
