Revealing aromas of spicy plums, sweet soil tones, licorice and raw cocoa, the 2020 Pommard 1er Cru Les Charmots is medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with a polished, fleshy profile and a long, saline finish. It will offer a broad drinking window.

This domaine has adequate raw materials to make sound, even delicious ripe, fruity, red burgundy. Yet, the producer is enamored by new oak. His excessive use of new oak has resulted in a wine that tastes coarse, too oaky, and has a texture in the mouth not unlike sawdust. While the wine has plenty of ripeness and density, it is simply overwhelmed by its aging in oak casks.
