The 2014 Beaune 1er Cru Les Bressandes represents the first time that Thibaut Marion had sourced the fruit from his own vineyards instead of purchasing from his uncle, ergo you will find "Domaine Seguin-Manuel" on the label. This is quite closed on the nose and needed more coaxing than Thibault's Pommard Petits Noizons, though it unfurls to offer wilted rose petals with time. The palate is fresh and lively on the entry. There is a lovely caressing texture to this wine, the oak (two one-year-old barrels) is nicely integrated and lends a silky sheen, not to mention the very appealing red berry fruit tinged with tobacco and vanilla pod that flourish on the finish. It will need a couple more years in bottle, but there is certainly good potential here.
