Paris did well in 2014, and while the wines lack the density and depth of the 2015s, they have pure, classic and balanced characters. They’ll certainly be drinkable at an earlier age than his 2015s. Much more meaty and bloody, with loads of pepper, ripe blackberries, blueberries, violets and leafy herbs, the 2014 Cornas Granit 60 (100% Syrah that was 70% destemmed and aged all in barrel) is medium to full-bodied, rich, concentrated and beautifully pure. I love its purity of fruit and ripe, sweet tannin. If you’re cherry picking, this is the wine to buy in 2014. Drink it over the coming 8-10 years.
