Glazed apricot, peach preserves, and lime on the nose of the Fallers’ 2007 Riesling Schlossberg Selection de Grains Nobles represent an extension of the corresponding V.T., and here a remarkable sense of energy and penetrating citrus character enlivens an otherwise implosively dense pit fruit essence, even as strong salinity lends invigoration. This finishes with vibratory, lip-trembling intensity, lime and grapefruit peel, salt, honey, and dried apricot clinging with an intensity you just can’t lick away. It should perform dramatically for 30-40 years. This year, Domaine Weinbach will receive its official certification as organic and biodynamic growers. The Fallers did well in the difficult 2006 vintage – especially with those Gewurztraminer harvested before botrytis gained the upper hand – and with good reason expressed elation over the vibrancy and refinement that characterizes most of 2007s.Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel.
