The 2009 GHR Shiraz spent 20 months aging in new and older French and American hogsheads. Deep garnet-purple colored, it displays aromas of warm blackberries and black cherries over nuances of olives, bacon, loam and black pepper plus faint whiffs of underbrush and cloves. Big, full bodied and rich in the mouth, it has a medium-firm level of rounded tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, earthy / savory finish. Drinking now, it should keep to 2018.
