Naturally fermented and matured for 19 months in French oak, the 2009 The Whistleblower Syrah gives a deep garnet-purple color and intense aromas of blackberry preserves, kirsch, warm plums and black pepper over cedar, slightly burnt toast, cloves and black truffles. The palate lends a complex earthy / gamey character with mouth-filling fruit supported by medium-firm grainy tannins and crisp acid. The finish is long and layered of savory, fruit and pepper notes. Approachable now, it should drink best 2013 to 2018+.
