Starts out oaky and cheesy, with baked berry, leather and clove-like aromas. The palate has lots of size, clacky tannins and acidity, while flavors of berry, mocha and tobacco are nice and lead to a toasty, grabby finish. Typical for RDD in that it’s tough and tannic but full of brash flavor; drink now–2015. ——M.S.(10/1/2011)—— 88
