The 2009 Merlot-Merlot is produced with, er... 50% Merlot and 50% Merlot? Well, something like that. The wine aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels. The nose has some cherries in liqueur plus some aromatic herbs with umami hints of meat broth. The palate is medium-bodied, but unfortunately dominated by harsh, drying tannins, which is worrying at this age. It does not really have much typicity of Merlot though is high in alcohol and residual sugar, both of which are noticeable. 19,000 bottles produced.
