The proprietary red wine, the 1997 Salamartano (equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), is noticeably tannic and backward, as well as internationally-styled. The dark ruby/purple color is followed by moderately intense aromas of black currants, sweet cherries, and spicy new oak.
