The 2007 Franciacorta Extra Brut opens with a high caliber of intensity that encompasses dried flowers, straw, baked bread and beautifully ripened pear and peach. There’s a sharp mineral tone that segues to background tones of white peach and honeydew melon. Talc powder and crushed minerals add an extra dimension at the back. Drink: 2015-2018.
Roberto Gatti founded the relatively new Ferghettina winery and produces 350,000 bottles today, including four types of Franciacorta. Their square-shaped Milledi Brut bottle is an object of rare beauty.
