The 2018 Chara is composed of Catarratto and Insolia bended in equal measure. This refreshing Sicilian white made in steel tanks has a lot of pear and stone fruit, but it also shows some cut grass and summer flower that underline the warm sunshine that washed over this part of Southern Italy. You might even find aromas of a freshly cut lemon wedge followed by a green olive. This is a lean-bodied wine with some extra cream and fleshiness to pair with a baked cod.

Catarratto and Insolia are blended in equal parts to make the 2015 Chara. The wine is deliciously bright and fragrant with citrus, white peach, tropical fruit and natural rubber. All of its various elements are neatly in place. Fresh acidity caps the experience.

This pretty 50-50 blend of Catarratto and Insolia offers pretty floral tones of violets, honeysuckle and citrus blossom with white mineral shadings in the background. It has a pale, straw color and a tonic, firm feel with lingering floral nuances on the finish.——M.L.(11/1/2008)—— 85
