The 2020 Chardonnay Estate comes from the own-rooted old vines planted in 1973. It has pretty scents of golden apples, burnt lemon peel, dried tarragon and lots of spicy accents with a gentle creaminess in the background. Medium-bodied and satiny, the palate boasts concentrated citrus underpinned by sparks of mineral character and bright acidity, finishing long and mineral driven.

The 2019 Chardonnay Estate comes from own-rooted vines planted in 1973. It was barrel fermented and matured for 12 months in oak and six months in stainless. It's scented of golden apples, dried hay and roasted almonds, and the palate has expansive, honeyed fruits with gently tangy acidity and glossy spices from its 40% to 45% new oak, finishing long and energetic.

The well-balanced 2000 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard possesses high alcohol as well as low acidity. The fruit comes across as ripe, lush, and attractive. It should drink well for 2-3 years. I suspect acid freaks will rate this wine several points higher, as elevated acidity is de rigeur.
