The 2009 Zinfandel includes 6% Petite Sirah. A delicious, classic Zinfandel, it offers up peppery, briery, wild berry fruit intermixed with damp earth and spice characteristics. The outstanding 2007 Zinfandel (86% Zinfandel and 14% Petite Sirah) is another winner and phenomenal bargain. This is classic Zinfandel with loads of berry fruit, pepper, earth, and roasted Provencal herbs. The wine is pure, full-bodied, ripe, with not a hard edge to be found. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. These are absolutely spectacular bargains from the very high-quality Varner Winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
