The seemingly ripest and most flavorful of the three 2021 single-vineyard offerings from Frank Family, the 2021 Chardonnay Lewis Vineyard is rich and buttery but not overdone. Barrel fermented and aged in 100% new French oak, it features powerful scents of Asian pear and spiced citrus (think clove-studded tangerine). It's medium to full-bodied, yet focused, streamlined and long on the finish.

Notes of pineapple and peach are joined by vanilla and toasted hazelnuts on the nose of the 2020 Chardonnay Lewis Vineyard. It's medium to full-bodied in the mouth, with a creamy, almost custardy texture, ample generosity on the palate and a long, silky finish. This wine boasts plenty of flavor, but it isn't a huge, blockbuster, instead remaining somewhat understated and elegant.

The 2018 Chardonnay Lewis Vineyard opens with gregarious scents of pineapple upside-down cake, green mango and apricot preserves with nuances of beeswax, acacia honey, praline and creme caramel. Full-bodied, the palate has a decadently oily texture with plenty of freshness to balance and layers of toasty, spicy, tropical fruits, finishing on a lingering nutty note.

The 2017 Chardonnay Lewis Vineyard opens with subtle apples, pears, lemon and spices with a waft of toast. Medium to full-bodied, it has a lively line and plenty of spiced pear flavors with a zesty finish.

The 2007 Chardonnay Frank Family Lewis Vineyard exhibits a light green/gold color, a tight but promising nose of hazelnuts, honeyed pear, tropical fruits, orange blossoms, and a touch of smoke. Elegant and rich with pure fruit as well as a long finish and an impressive yet restrained use of wood, it should drink well for 3-4 years.
