The 2009 Rocky Gully Shiraz has a very deep garnet-purple color and slightly reduced aromas to begin, giving way to blackberry compote, blueberry pie filling, tar, licorice, fennel seed and subtle earthy hints. Full bodied and concentrated in the mouth, it has a good backbone of enlivening acid and a medium to firm level of rounded tannins, finishing with plenty of spice. Drink it now through 2015.
