The wine opens to a light golden color, followed by mild aromas of citrus, cut grass and white peach. You get that slightly salty or mineral touch as well, which is always a signature of white wines made in northern Italy. This is a great value with an ambitious 3.5 million bottles made.

The Kris 2019 Pinot Grigio (packaged in its usual screw cap bottle) shows a textbook interpretation of this versatile grape. The bouquet reveals pretty tones of citrus, honeydew melon, apple, crushed stone and freshly cut grass. Throughout it all, the wine shows a heightened level of sharpness and focus that can only come from the cooler climates of Northern Italy. This easy wine would pair with a classic insalata di mare served by the beach or the pool.

This wine celebrates its 25th anniversary in this vintage, and as usual, it's a laid-back and simple white that is linear and bright. There are interesting grassy tones in the Kris 2018 Pinot Grigio with blasts of citrus. This bargain-priced screwcap bottle is a great summer picnic partner for deviled eggs or a big platter of chips and guacamole.

The Kris 2017 Pinot Grigio (in a screwcap bottle) is a fantastic wine to throw back with garden-fresh summer salads. I'm thinking a generous platter of salade Ni?oise with fresh tuna, string beans, boiled potatoes and vinaigrette. The wine is fresh, easygoing and very true to the variety with stone fruit aromas, pear and dry summer grass. This is absolutely one of the best value wines to come out of Italy.
